Recycling Basics
Circularity – continual reuse – is ideal. That's when an item like a plastic bottle gets recycled into another plastic bottle. Republic Services’ Polymer Centers
In today’s market, plastics are often downcycled, meaning a water bottle seldom becomes a bottle again. They may get a second life as clothing, carpeting or construction piping.
To address the growing demand for recycled content, Republic Services opened the first fully integrated plastics recycling center in North America. This center, located in Las Vegas, is the first of several planned facilities which allow us to manage plastics from collection to recycled consumer packaging. These Polymer Centers will help to keep valuable materials in the circular economy for the long term.
America Recycles Day is November 15

Recycling - Easy as 1, 2, 3
Follow these three steps to become a recycling expert.
Know What to Throw
Only put recyclable materials – paper, cardboard, metal cans, plastic bottles and jugs – in your recycling cart.
Empty. Clean. Dry.
Make sure all recyclables have been emptied, rinsed and dried. Dirty items will interfere with the recycling process.
Don’t Bag It
Your recyclable items should be placed loose in the cart. No need to bag them.
