Communities
Engaging with and investing in the communities where our employees and customers live and work is a vital part of creating sustainable neighborhoods.

Supporting People, Spaces and Places
Charitable Giving
We spend our days working with and beside our neighbors, and there's no place we'd rather be. We currently serve more than 13 million homes and businesses, and we want to support our customers, not just with the services we provide, but with investments of time and money.
Through our charitable giving platform, we follow through on our commitment to the people and places we work for. Our focus is sustainable neighborhood revitalization, and we give back through charitable grants, in-kind donations, employee donations and volunteering. Since 2017, we've given back $43 million to the communities we serve, positively impacting 9.4 million people.

Our signature Foundation initiative is the National Neighborhood Promise® (NNP), a program in which we partner with nonprofit organizations to help rebuild and revitalize places in need around the country.
NNP projects aim to improve residents' quality of life and make a lasting, positive impact on the community. Initiatives funded by this program help create safe, environmentally sound spaces communities can enjoy together. Contact foundation@republicservices.com for more information.

Environmental Justice
Engaging our Communities
Everyone deserves to live in a clean, healthy community. At Republic Services, our commitment to environmental justice grows out of being a good neighbor in the communities we serve.
We've grounded our commitment in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) definition of environmental justice:The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income, with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.

Environmental justice shows up in many ways at Republic Services. It's in our community sessions, where residents are invited to an open dialogue—because all citizens deserve to have their voices heard. It's in our community events, like open houses, where we welcome the public to see what we do and how we do it. It's in the policies we set at our organization to protect precious values like diversity, inclusion, human rights and civil rights. We're proud of the positive impact we make on our local communities and the environment.
We've utilized the EPA's interactive mapping tool, EJScreen, to provide socioeconomic data for the communities surrounding our U.S. facilities.
